A Little Better...

Another quick note...Buddy's vital signs are stable, his kidneys are not yet functioning properly so he is continuing dialysis and plasmapheresis, and is still in the ICU.  Today was relatively calm compared to the panic we were in yesterday, but we need his kidneys to regain their normal function as soon as possible for things to be ok.  They said it was touch and go for a while yesterday.

The theory of what caused his kidneys to fail is tumor lysis -- where the chemo blasted so many of the cancer cells, which went into the blood stream and clogged up the kidneys, which were already in a weakened state to begin with.  So now they need to manage the chemo dosage as to what his kidneys can take.

My sister Trinna will be taking my kids here to us on Friday. Thank you to Tita Telly, Tito Rico and to Mars (Bud's secretary) for making all this possible.

Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone for all the masses, prayers, messages, timeline posts, texts, calls,  etc.  I am sorry if I am not able to respond to you right away or at all.  Just seeing them makes me really emotional, and it's hard enough to keep it all together as it is... but know that they are very much appreciated.

Please keep the prayers coming as we are not yet out of the woods.  Here are a few pics we took today (the bandage on his neck is where the dialysis and plasmapheresis tubes are connected through).

Ria

  6. Ria, i just learned about your journey through Iris' post this morning and the first thing that went through my mind was a question: why Buddy? Why you and your family? I don't know him personally (only saw 2x i think!) but through your scrapbooks and FB updates, somehow I've known him as a very good person...and he's really one in a million! But then I quickly dismissed my questions and prayed to God that He is WITH you all the way and that He is IN CONTROL. Our prayers are with you...will ask my kids and Vic to join me in praying for Buddy, you and your entire family. And please tell Buddy, as I often do this to myself when I am in great pain, to imagine himself in the palm of God's hands whenever the pain seems like unbearable. He is one blessed guy to have a loving wife by his side throughout this journey. ((hugs)) to you.

    Best regards,
    Airees

  7. Nice to see the smile on your faces despite the trial you're facing right now. In my heart, I know, all will be well. Hang in there sis, we will not let up sending the heaven our prayers. We all undergo trials, different shapes and sizes. Been through a lot and I know you were with me in prayers back then. It's time I do my share, it's the only way I know. Sending you my love... hugs - Phylline

  8. Hi Ria and Buddy. Just learned about Buddy today and as I was reading the blog, tears were rolling down my cheeks. Will offer masses and prayers for his fast recovery. In God's time and hands, he will be healed. Pray to Padre Pio also and go to his Shrine in Libis when you are here already. He has done a lot of wonders, including the case of my youngest son whom he healed after months of praying, visiting and putting the oil on his neck. Be strong Ria.( I know you are since) Buddy needs you most at this time.

Hope he is getting better now. The last time we were at your house, everything seemed fine with him though I noticed he became thin last March 14 during the Moving Up ceremony. He will be fine and in time you will all fly back home happily. Both of you take care. You take care also Ria.

  12. Prayer is truly powerful, and having the loving children with you at this time will somehow be a soothing balm for the frayed emotions -thats what angels are for! It will also strengthen Buddy's resolve to never give up, so hang in there, Ria, we salute your bravery, your faith, and your love. Buddy, there isnt a moment when your prayer warriors from the oldest resident at 35 kalinga to the youngest precocious apo at LGV, aren't praying for your healing. With much love and fervent prayers, - Tito Arturo, Ninang Elena, children and apos
